You are welcome to stay at Khadro Ling during events and retreats. If you´re planning to participate in one of our events, the following information will be useful:

How to get to Khadro Ling

The Citral bus line has a bus line direct from Porto Alegre to Três Coroas. From the bus station in Três Coroas, it is necessary to get a taxi to the Buddhist center. In case you don´t want to get a taxi, you can get a bus from Porto Alegre to São Francisco de Paula. You should get off at bus station number 177 (Rodeio Bonito) and walk for 2 kilometers, following the signs to the center (Centro Budista).

Três Coroas is two hours by car from the Salgado Filho airport in Porto Alegre. With the help of an tour agent in the airport, you can arrange a taxi to the center. If you plan to do this, we will email directions in Portuguese. The fee will be about R$200 (approximately U$90).

You may find accommodation in the region’s hotels or guest houses, but you will also need to arrange your transportation. These are some Hotel and transportation possibilities.

Retreat House 2: Located 800 meters from the temple up a steep road. It has rooms with two single beds, and a bathroom shared between two rooms. Bedding, towels, blankets and pillows are offered to the guests at Retreat House 2.

Guests should bring their own personal toiletries. If you are staying at Retreat House 2, it is especially important to bring a raincoat and shoes, flashlight and umbrella. The Gonpa does not provide transportation to the retreat house.

Dormitory: Located close to the temple. Separate quarters for men and women, but the bathroom is shared by both. Bring your own sheets, blanket, pillow, and towels, or let us know in advance that you plan to rent these items.

Meals: Meal/accommodation options listed below. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are available. Be punctual for meals, since the kitchen service closes and only snacks can be purchased at unscheduled times. We cannot offer special diets requiring restricted ingredients. Each participant is responsible for washing his or her own dishes. The water from the taps is of excellent quality and safe to drink.

What to bring: Definitely bring your cushion for the shrine room, and mark it with your name. Also bring good walking shoes, warm layers of clothes for the cold mornings, rainwear and an umbrella, toiletries, and a pen. The nearest supermarket is located seven kilometers from the center down a dirt road and there is no transportation by public bus or by Gonpa vehicles to Três Coroas.

Services: We have two public phones, and national calling cards are available in our store. We don’t offer shopping service. The Três Coroas pharmacies will deliver medicine and other items by motor bike if the purchase is over a certain amount. Orders can be placed by the public phone or go to reception if you don’t speak Portuguese—we will be happy to help you.
